What is noise pollution

Unwanted sounds that  has unpleasant effect and discomfort to ears is called noise pollution. Noise pollution is generally known as exposure to elevated sound levels that lead to adverse effect on human and other living creatures. Sound levels less than 70dB are good  for living organism, however sound upto 115 dB for a shorter period is tolerable.

As noise pollution leads to sleep disturbance it affects the individual work performance during the day also.

Noise pollution is also prevailed in water resources. Thousands of oil drills, sonars, watercrafts and shipping vessels are populating our water resources and creating serious causes of noise pollution in waterways. This is very harmful for all aquatic animals.

As the effect of noise pollution is very hazardous, prevention of noise pollution is very necessary. Individual as well as combine efforts in preventing noise pollution can be helpful. At home and offices we should turn off applications such as television, games computers when not in use. We should always lower the volume while playing music and other sounds. When using machines which make loud sounds we should shut the door to confine the noise in the room. Using earplugs or earmuffs also reduce the noise to manageable level. Residential and industrial areas should be away from each other to feel relaxed residents from noise pollution. We should use public transport because less traffic on road means less noise pollution.
