International Day of Women and Girls in Science theme and major highlights

International Day of Women and Girls in Science is observed every year on 11 February to promote the full and equal access and participation of females in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. In December 2015, United Nations General Assembly passed resolution and proclaimed the 11th February as the annual commemoration and observance of International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Every year a theme for International Day of Women and Girls in Science is selected to highlight and focus on an area for gender equality in science.

Observance of International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Every year the United Nations hosts the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11th February in Science Assembly which brings together both representatives of member states alongside representatives of international organisations, the private sector and leading scientists.
