World Malaria Day

World Malaria Day is an international observance day commemorated on 25 April every year. The day is observed world wide to recognize global efforts to control malaria. In 2012, malaria caused approx. 6.27 lakh deaths and in 2015 approx. 4.27 lakh deaths which show that malaria cases fell by 29 percent globally. World Malaria Day is one of the 11 official global public health campaigns marked by World Health Organization (WHO).

History of World Malaria Day

World Malaria Day was instituted in May 2007 at 60th session of World Health Assembly. The aim of World Malaria Day observance was to provide education and understanding of malaria by implementing intensified malaria-control strategies.
